“History is told by the Victors.
Survivors know a different story.
Survivors know a different story.
The Filipinos suffered three hundred years of Spanish rule.
Our writing was almost killed, our kingdoms were
destroyed by Spain.

We wanted freedom.
The United States fought
the Spaniards.
the Spaniards.
The liberators became the invaders.
Our villages were burned, we were called savages and placed in prison camps in our own land.
The winners will teach one way, survivors will remember another.”
